FAQ

What is the Alligator Chopper?
The Alligator Chopper is a Swedish-designed manual vegetable chopper that cuts food into uniform cubes or sticks in one single downward press. It's built for speed, precision, and everyday kitchen use — no knife skills required.

What foods can I chop with it?
It works great for onions, garlic, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, shallots, olives, radishes, and most firm fruits and vegetables. With the right blade, you can also make fries-style sticks.

What are the main benefits?

  • Speed — dice a whole onion in seconds instead of minutes.
  • Uniform cuts — every piece is the same size, so food cooks evenly.
  • Safety — your hands never touch the blade during chopping.
  • Less mess — the collector box catches everything as you chop.

What blade sizes are available?
Most models come with interchangeable grids:

  • 3x3 mm (1/8") — fine dice for garlic, chili, shallots.
  • 6x6 mm (1/4") — everyday dice for onions, peppers, cucumber.
  • 12x12 mm (1/2") — chunky cuts and fries-style sticks.

Which blade size should I start with?
The 6x6 mm is the most versatile for everyday cooking. If you want maximum flexibility from day one, choose a model that includes all three blade sizes.

Does it help with onion tears?
Yes — the collector box helps contain the vapors released when cutting onions, which significantly reduces eye irritation for most users.

Is it easy to use?
Very. Place your vegetable on the base, press down firmly, and you're done. One motion gives you perfectly diced pieces every time. No special technique needed.

Do I need to pre-cut vegetables first?
For larger vegetables like onions and potatoes, a quick pre-cut into halves or quarters helps them fit the cutting area and makes pressing easier. Smaller items like garlic cloves or shallots can go straight in.

Is it safe to use?
Yes — the design keeps your hands away from the blade at all times. It's actually safer than traditional knife dicing, especially for children learning to cook or anyone less confident with a knife.

How do I clean it?
Simply disassemble the parts, rinse under running water, and clear any food from the grid. Most models are dishwasher safe, though a quick hand rinse right after use keeps the blades in top condition.

What is it made from?
The blades are made from high-grade stainless steel. The body and collector components are made from BPA-free Tritan and ABS plastic — food-safe and built to last.

What makes Alligator different from cheaper choppers?
Two things stand out:

  1. Blade quality — we use South Korean cold-rolled 301 stainless steel, which stays sharper longer and cuts cleaner than standard blades.
  2. Repairability — we sell genuine replacement parts, so you never have to throw away the whole unit. Many of our customers have used the same Alligator for 10+ years.

Can I buy replacement parts?
Yes — we stock genuine replacement grids, bases, and collector boxes. If a part wears out, you can replace just that piece and keep using your Alligator as if it were new.

How long do the blades last?
With normal home use, the blades last for many years. Heavy daily use may eventually dull the grid, but replacement grids are available and affordable. Many customers have been using the same unit for over a decade.

Can I make fries with it?
Yes — use the 12x12 mm grid and pre-cut your potato into a shape that fits the cutting area. Press down and you get uniform fry-shaped sticks ready for the oven or fryer.

Is it good for meal prep?
Absolutely. It's one of the fastest ways to batch-dice vegetables for soups, salads, stir-fries, salsas, and more. Many of our customers use it every single day.
